Through the talents and creativity of our members seen every week and even once a year, given lovingly.—CS
I don’t see air or wind, nor do I see Jesus, but I breath air and feel the wind. That’s how I see Jesus, each day.—JC
Son not where he needed to be. Follow the world. Much prayer by church and mom to bring son back. Son found his path wrong and turned around. God now is in his life and his son’s life.—SM
A person in our congregation (I didn’t know she even knew me) approached me and said she’d prayed for my health many years ago when I was ill. Hers was the voice of God.—anonymous
Moved here, Nov. 2016. Such friendliness is so powerful.—MA
I have no “wonderful” stories here, yet. My life, however, has always been led, pushed, designed by God! - EA
Support in hard times! Love and caring in all times.—SM
I see the Lord at WUMC through our caring groups… REACH, VIP, Stephen Ministry. I love how the lives of both the receivers and the providers of these ministries are enriched.—PH
Through the caring and concern shown to me by the many people at Westminster UMC.—JC
Having joined here at age 12, I have seen pastors come and go, the design of the structure change dramatically, however, Jesus has remained at the corner of Main & Center through the witness of those members who continue to touch my life.—JH
When Pastor Malcolm prayed over my dog for healing.—RG
The smiles on my grandkids faces in the nursery with the wonderful, kind, caring staff. The Best! - KM
When our family moved to Westminster, a neighbor lady walked us to Sunday School. That year I received Jesus as my Savior (9 years old). Ever since, I have walked with Him. I see Him in the Word, creation, Spirit-led messages, organ music, my neighbors, and the warm and welcoming folks at WUMC.—RL
I have seen The Lord in the faces of our Soup Kitchen clients, and heard Him in their “thank you’s.” - SR
In the provision these church people give, each month, to provide a hot meal to those in need, each Monday—the workers who are faithful to come each week to prepare the meal and serve with a pleasant smile and kind words—To give above and beyond the tithe—that’s a blessing! God is pleased that you care for those who need.—BL
About 15 years ago I had my faith severely shaken by a horrible incident causing the death of an innocent and I would not attend any kind of religious services for a long time. I was in some real pain and felt strong anger.
Then, years later, when I was traveling after retirement, I attended a small Missionary Baptist Church in Georgia whenever I was in that area. Although I was “different” and was obviously NOT a local church member, I was welcomed warmly by that small congregation. I’ve been going there for years now and that was the beginning of my ability and willingness to return to church services at home. I painted their church and they hung it on the wall! I was not interested in returning to WUMC, though.
I looked into two congregations locally at home here in Westminster but neither seemed a good match for me so I continued pursuing other options.
THEN… one Sunday morning in May 2017, without any prior planning or thought on the matter, I woke up and just felt like “Today is the day for me to go check out WUMC.” I waivered and tried to resist but there was just some force relentlessly prodding me to get to church. There was no way I would be allowed to NOT go to WUMC this particular morning. I thought, “Well, that’s a bit weird, but OK, there’s no harm in just going.” So, I went to MY church for the first time in many, many years.
I went to the 11am service and took a seat in a location where I had NEVER sat before. I couldn’t explain why I did that. I just knew I was being led to that particular seat—the sixth row back on the right side of the church, sitting at the left end of that pew. There was a force guiding me.
Then, I listened and looked around. Everything was different! And I was really impressed with what I saw. I saw two youthful pastors, Malcolm and Shari, whom I remembered from many years, earlier. They encircled the YOUTH of MY church and lovingly nurtured them and their faith. These two pastors shared MY hopes for MY church—The youth are our future so we’d be wise to involve them and make Christian leaders of them—for everyone’s betterment and future. Now, the youth had become actually important and involved at WUMC. And they were happy and relaxed!
It was a totally new concept for me to witness this.
“Well, so far, so good” …I thought… “This might work out.”
THEN… the thing that sealed this deal for me, was when I opened the hymnal in front of me. I knew then without a doubt that the Lord had taken me into his loving arms and sent me a message that could just NOT be ignored or misunderstood. I had been in The Lord’s hands, all day.
The hymnal was dedicated: [to my children]
I remember making those dedication arrangements for THAT hymnal.
How about this experience of seeing The Lord in Westminster?
And this is only one, the biggest, example of The Lord’s involvement in my daily life.
By the way—after VBS this summer, when all the hymnals were removed from the pews and used for something else, I have not been able to find that exact hymnal, again. I have looked at every hymnal I could find in the church. It appears to have vanished BUT it was right where I needed it to be for me at exactly the right time.
Thank God for that.—JR
