re-entering well
planning our return to corporate (in-person) worship
Grace and peace friends,
I am pleased that Maryland Governor Hogan has relied closely on economic, scientific, and medical experts in charting the course for Maryland. Governor Hogan advised that effective May 15, he is downgrading the stay at home order while still encouraging staying at home preferable. He has also permitted religious organizations to hold indoor activities at 50 percent capacity and stressed a preference to hold outdoor activities over indoor activities.
For several weeks now, I have been working with various teams in our church to start to consider steps necessary to allow us to return to corporate worship at Center and Main.
Westminster UMC leadership established a Re-entering Well Task Force in accordance with recommendations from the Baltimore Washington Conference of United Methodist Churches. This task force is reviewing local, state and federal guidelines, as well as denominational resources regarding gathering together. We are setting in place a plan, specific to Center and Main, permitting folks the opportunity to worship and gather in-person. We are interested in your thoughts and preference. Please click here (or button, above) to complete our quick 4-question survey 'Re-launching In Person Church.'
For now, Westminster UMC will continue to provide worship online until the Re-entering Well Task Force, with the approval of the Church Council, believes we are truly ready for returning to corporate gatherings.
We will not hastily return to what once was and in fact believe that what will be shall be better than past practices. We have already seen an uptick in many who have joined us via social media platforms and we must implement resources and personnel to continue these venues. With thoughtful deliberation and respect for all who desire to gather for worship, and providing technical resources and opportunities to include the most at risk persons and those who have started to connect via social platforms, we can continue Changing Lives @ Center & Main.
Be safe and be well,
PM
